The established promo method, multiplied by AI.
On its own, promo betting is a well-established, quietly profitable method. Add an AI predictor that's +ROI on our live-tracked results, and you get the missing piece — the same edge, sharpened.
This page explains exactly why it works and how to run it — no jargon, no hand-waving. Read it once and the whole thing clicks.
This is what you're hunting for
One real race where every signal lined up on the same horse. Tap to see it full-size.
Beat The Rap is the AI’s ★ “one to beat” — its highest-conviction call for this race.
+29.4% Promo EV with 🔥🔥 two flames — a genuinely big edge on the late price, not a marginal one.
2.45 back vs 2.54 lay — a 3.5% spread, near-fair, on a market with ~$80k matched. A price you can trust.
AI + big EV + a real edge all on one runner fires the gold 🎁 SIZE UP badge. This is your cue to increase your stake.
A real example from the tool — not every race looks like this, and that's the point: you wait for the ones that do. Figures are a snapshot in time. 18+. Gamble responsibly.
Insane results — and we're only just getting started
Real messages from beta members through winter — the toughest racing of the year. Ready in time for spring.

Real, unedited messages from the beta group (names hidden for privacy). A small group, not a guarantee — individual results vary with discipline, bankroll, the promos you can access, and variance. Past results don't predict future returns. 18+. Gamble responsibly.
Back close to the true price on a money-back promo, and every time your horse places you bank a near-free bonus bet. Spend those on more near-even picks, and a break-even bet becomes a long-run +EV edge — then the AI tells you which ones to take.

Betfair is the closest thing to the truth
A bookie's price has a margin baked in — it's built to make them money. The Betfair exchange is different: there's no margin in the odds (Betfair just takes a small commission on winnings), so near the jump on a liquid market its price is the closest public read on a horse's true chance. That's our benchmark.
Two quick terms: back = betting on a horse to win (what a bookie gives you). Lay = betting on a horse to lose — only possible on an exchange like Betfair. Betfair shows both a back and a lay price, and fair value sits in the middle of the two. The closer a bookie's price is to that middle, the fairer the price you're getting.
Why a near break-even bet makes money
Bookies constantly run promotions to pull in bets — the most useful for us is the money-back offer: "back a runner in this race, and if it runs 2nd or 3rd we'll refund your stake as a bonus bet." They run these on big meetings almost every day across dozens of Aussie books. The whole method is built on collecting these offers — which is why serious players keep accounts open at lots of bookies. The extension's Promos panel finds the live ones for you each day.
And a bonus bet isn't quite cash: you keep the winnings but not the stake. So a $50 bonus bet at $3 pays $100 if it wins, not $150 — worth roughly 75–80% of its face value once you use it well. That's still close to free money, and it's the engine of the whole strategy.
Here's the flip. On a 2nd/3rd money-back promo, a bookie says: "if your horse runs 2nd or 3rd, we'll give your stake back as a bonus bet." That promo changes the maths completely.
Take a bet that's only roughly break-even on the raw odds. Once you count what you get back when it places, it's worth taking — a big chunk of the time the horse runs 2nd or 3rd and you collect a bonus bet. Bonus bets are near-free money. Spend them on more near-even picks and the wins turn the whole operation +EV.
- →You back a runner with $50 cash at a price close to its Betfair value, on a 2nd/3rd money-back promo.
- ✓It wins → you keep the winnings. Great, but that's not where the edge is.
- 🎁It runs 2nd or 3rd → you get your $50 back as a bonus bet. In a typical field that happens often — and each time, you've banked near-free money.
- ✕It runs 4th or worse → you lose the $50. This is the cost of doing business, and it's already priced into the strategy.
Across many bets, the wins plus the value of all those recovered bonus bets more than cover the losses. That's the edge — it only shows up over volume, which is why discipline and consistency are the whole game.
Cash promos and bonus bets
Once you understand the flip, there are exactly two moves — and Edge shows you the value of each on every runner.
You back with cash on a 2nd/3rd money-back promo. Win → keep the winnings. Place (2nd/3rd) → get your stake back as a bonus. 4th+ → lose the stake. Field size and places-paid matter here — they set how often the bonus comes back. This is your qualifying bet.
You're spending a bonus bet (winnings only — no stake returned). Only a win converts it, so field size is irrelevant and higher odds + a tight spread = more value. Experienced bettors typically convert a bonus to cash at roughly 70–80%, depending on the odds they spend it at.
Edge puts a value number against both, on every runner, so you never have to do the maths in your head — you just take the plays that clear your threshold.
Now add an AI that's +ROI on its own
Everything above works without any AI. Promo betting is a genuine, established edge — thousands of people already do it, and good on them. But there's a ceiling: you're taking every +EV promo, good selection or not.
Here's what changes the game. Our AI predictor is +ROI based on our live-tracked results (see the tracked results). So instead of taking every promo, Edge filters toward the runners the model also rates as overpriced. When the market's efficiency and the AI's edge line up on the same horse, that's a far stronger selection than either signal alone.
Plenty of people do promo betting. What almost none of them have is an AI that's +ROI on its own deciding which bets to take. That's the multiplier.
No-Lay is the way — ease in by bankroll
The method we recommend is No-Lay: you back with cash and don't hedge on Betfair. It keeps the full edge and it's far simpler to run — no laying, no mistakes, done in seconds. It's the approach the whole product is built around.
The trade-off is variance. No-Lay swings — a bad run where nothing places can cost real money before the maths turns back your way. So match your aggression to your bankroll: start smaller, ease in, and scale up as you get comfortable. Anyone who tells you it's smooth is selling you something.
So we don't pretend it away — we attack it at the source. Blind volume is what makes no-lay so violent: you're firing on every qualifier, good or bad. Filtering to the runners the AI also rates well means fewer, higher-quality bets — which is the single most effective way to take some of the sting out of the variance while keeping the edge.
Some services do a version of this by hand
A handful of respected operations run a similar idea manually — a human tipster works a few select races a day and tells members where the value is. It works, but it's slow and it's limited to whatever that person can cover.
Punt Legacy Edge does it on any race with enough liquidity, automatically, with the AI doing the heavy lifting on selection. Same core idea — far more reach, and a second edge stacked on top.
The early results have been very encouraging. Some members running $300 units are making 20–30 units profit a week — through winter, the toughest racing of the year. Some have chosen to increase their unit size for the spring.
A small group of beta members, not a guarantee. Individual results vary with discipline, bankroll, the promos you can access, and variance — past results don't predict future returns. 18+. Gamble responsibly.
Bookies don't love winners
If you consistently take value, some bookmakers will eventually limit your stakes or restrict your account ("gubbing"). This is normal — it happens to everyone who does this seriously, and it isn't a fault of the tool. It's part of the game, and there are sensible ways to manage it:
- Spread across more books. The more bookmaker accounts you use, the longer your capacity lasts and the more promos you can reach.
- Don't hammer one book. Mix your play; avoid looking like a pure promo-only account on any single bookie.
- Treat limits as expected, not a failure. A restricted account just means it's served its purpose — move your volume to the next one.
We're not affiliated with any bookmaker, and we can't control their decisions. Read each bookie's terms, and only stake what you can afford to lose.
Spring is the biggest racing of the year — the most promos, the most value. The winners get ready for it early. The single best thing you can do for account longevity is build accounts that look like a normal punter before you start taking value seriously:
- Open fresh accounts. The more books you're signed up to, the more promos you can reach and the longer your total capacity lasts.
- Mix in normal, non-promo bets. A few regular bets — favourites, multis, the odd punt — make an account look natural, not promo-only.
- Start small and build slowly. Ease your stakes up over time rather than smashing max bets on day one. A steady ramp reads as a genuine customer.
- Don't only bet when there's a promo. The most sustainable accounts aren't obvious bonus-hunters — they look like they enjoy a bet.
Think of it as an investment: a bit of groundwork now means far more live accounts — and far more value — when spring hits.
Getting started
Edge is in beta right now, so you install it manually: head to the download page, grab the folder, and load it in Chrome (full step-by-step instructions are right there). No app-store wait — you’re running in a couple of minutes.
The tool itself is free — anyone can use the promo/EV engine (bookie back vs Betfair lay, live EV, and the daily promo finder). The AI predictions column needs AI Pro or higher (or any Ultimate plan), and the Tips column needs any Tips package. Those two are what the extension reads from your account.
In the same Chrome — puntlegacy.com powers the AI column, Betfair provides the fair-price benchmark. A setup strip tracks both for you.
Tick your bookies, open a race, and take the runners that clear your threshold — especially the SIZE UP flags where the AI agrees.
How to read the extension
Every number and colour means one thing. Learn these once and the whole grid reads at a glance — you'll spot the plays in seconds.

The columns, left to right
Saddlecloth number.
Horse name.
Which book that price is from. Click it to jump straight to that race on the book (using your existing login) — no bet slip pre-filled.
The best bookie back price across your ticked books.
The Betfair lay price — the runner’s market benchmark. True fair value sits just below it (between Betfair back and lay); the EV is worked out against that, so you don’t have to.
How far the bookie sits from the Betfair market. Tighter = closer to fair = better.
Value of backing this runner with cash on a 2nd/3rd money-back promo.
Value of spending a bonus bet on this runner (win-only, so higher odds help).
Your saved AI pick + tag (One to beat / Good chance / Value) and its conviction %. ⭐ = the AI rates it betworthy. Needs an AI plan.
Our Wednesday & Saturday tips, shown on the tipped runner (bet type + stake, e.g. PROMO 1u). Only races we’ve tipped show one. Needs a Tips plan; you can hide the column any time.
The EV colours
Both EV columns are colour-coded so you can scan for value without reading a single number:
Red — negative or weak value. Skip it.
Gold — positive value, worth a look, but below your "lean in" threshold.
Green — clears your threshold. This is a genuine edge — the plays you're hunting for.

🔥 Flames = the size of the edge
A flame appears next to an EV pill when the edge is big enough to matter. It's purely about edge size — not the AI.
Promo EV ≥ 18%, or Bonus EV ≥ 75%. A strong edge.
Promo EV ≥ 24%, or Bonus EV ≥ 85%. A big edge.
All four thresholds are tunable in Settings — these are the defaults.

Row glow = the AI backs it
Flames tell you the edge is big. The row glow / coloured left-edge tells you the second thing: the AI likes this runner too. The stronger the glow, the stronger the AI's backing — and it only ever shows on a row that already has a real edge.
- No glow — no AI pick on this runner (or no edge yet).
- Faint glow — there's an edge, but the AI hasn't picked it.
- Solid glow — the AI likes it.
- Strong glow — the AI has it ⭐ starred (its highest conviction).
⚡ SIZE UP — when everything lines up
This is the signal the whole tool is built around. A gold 🎁 SIZE UP badge fires only when all three are true on the same runner:
Market value and the AI, pointing at the same horse. That's your cue to lean in.

The two play modes
Switch modes from the toolbar. Each one shows the value for a different move:
You back with cash on a 2nd/3rd money-back promo — chasing the bonus when it places. The 💵 Promo EV column is the one that matters here.
You're spending a bonus bet (win-only). Higher odds + a tight spread convert best. Watch the 🎁 Bonus EV column.
Your workflow, step by step
Open Bookies and select the books you have accounts with. More books = better prices and more plays.
The Betfair price is truest in the last few minutes. Click a race from the left rail — closest to the jump sits at the top.
Green EV pills with a 🔥 are your real edges. A glowing row means the AI likes it too.
A ⚡ SIZE UP badge is the strongest signal — edge and AI aligned. Lean in on these.
Hit the bookie chip to jump straight to that book on the race, logged in. Place your bet, apply the promo.
Set your thresholds and stick to them. Consistency across many bets is the whole edge — not any single result.
How much to stake
The core idea: your stake scales with how much agrees. Small units on the top EV plays near the jump — step up as the AI backs the same runner. EV alone is a small play; EV + AI is your cue to lean in.
💵 Cash promo — an example ladder
| The signal | Stake |
|---|---|
| EV over your threshold (e.g. ≥18%) | 1u |
| + an AI pick (any tag) | 1.5u |
| + an AI ⭐ starred pick | 2u |
| + a starred “one to beat” | 2.5u |
Same idea, one race: EV over your floor with no AI → 1u. If the AI has it starred → step up to 2u. Starred "one to beat" with the EV there → lean in to 2.5u.
🎁 Spend bonus — smaller, and doubled when the AI agrees
A high Bonus EV that holds steady near the jump is worth a bonus spend on its own — ~80% long-run conversion is strong. Higher odds + a tight spread convert best.
When the AI backs the same runner, double it. Two signals on one horse — the same "lean in when they align" rule as the cash side.
No consistent good EV or bonus conversion in a race? Skip it. Discipline is the whole edge — it's the consistency across the plays you do take, not any single result, that makes the maths pay. Take your plays in the last few minutes, when the Betfair price is truest.
"u" = one unit of your chosen stake. Only ever stake what you can afford to lose. 18+. Gamble responsibly.
Common questions
Is this matched betting?+
Short answer: no — we never lay off.
Matched betting lays off every bet on Betfair to lock in a small guaranteed profit. Punt Legacy Edge doesn't do that. You take the position and let the long-run maths pay.
Here's why that works. On a money-back promo, even a roughly break-even bet is worth taking, because it earns you a bonus bet whenever the horse places. Spend those near-free bonuses on more near-even picks and, over volume, the whole thing turns +EV.
The AI's job is to sharpen which horse you back — steering you toward runners the model rates well rather than a blind pick, which lifts your average selection and takes some sting out of the variance. It's a well-established promo-betting method; we just make the selection smarter.
Why is the Betfair price the benchmark?+
The Betfair exchange price near the jump on a liquid market is the closest public estimate of a horse's true probability — it is set by real money on both sides with no margin baked into the odds (Betfair just takes a small commission on winnings). Betfair shows a back and a lay price, and fair value sits in the middle of the two. The closer a bookie's price is to that middle, the fairer the price you are getting; a promo then makes a near-fair bet +EV overall.
What does the AI add?+
The promo method is already profitable on its own. The AI predictor is +ROI on our live-tracked results, so instead of taking every +EV promo we filter toward the runners the model also rates as overpriced. That means market efficiency and an AI edge lining up on the same horse — a stronger selection than either signal alone.
What do I need to run it?+
The tool is free to use — you just need a Betfair account (for the price benchmark) and the bookmaker accounts you want to bet with. Install the extension, log into puntlegacy.com and Betfair in the same Chrome, and the edge lights up on every liquid race. Two columns are plan-gated: the AI predictions column needs AI Pro or higher (or any Ultimate plan), and the Tips column needs any Tips package.
