You do NOT have to take every bet. You won't have a promo for every race, and that's completely fine. Over the long run it all evens out to roughly 20% ROI whether you catch 5 bets a day or 50.
The more qualifying promo/bonus bets you can take, the more profit — but only the ones where you actually hold the promo.

Lower odds place more often, so you're more likely to trigger the “money back if 2nd/3rd” refund and get your bonus back. Recommended band: $2–$6.
A bonus bet only pays the winnings (stake isn't returned), so higher odds extract far more real cash from the same free bet. Aim ~$6+ — drop to $5 if you've got spare bonuses to burn.
A bonus bet (SNR — “stake not returned”) only pays out (odds − 1) if it wins. So the cash value of a $100 bonus is its win probability × (odds − 1) × $100.
Same $100 bonus, but a longer-priced runner turns more of its face value into cash — because you keep a bigger multiple when it does land. That's why bonuses want higher odds and money-back wants lower.
